Helpline

What is Speak Up Helpline?

Speak Up Helpline is a dedicated service providing confidential support to individuals facing technology-facilitated gender-based violence (TFGBV), including online blackmail, harassment, and other forms of digital violence. The project also works to protect and ensure the availability of online content that raises awareness about Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), as such content is often unfairly taken down.

Who Do We Help?

Our helpline is open to anyone who has been subjected to online exploitation, regardless of gender, and to protect SRHR content. We also collaborate with civil society organizations, law enforcement agencies, and policymakers involved in addressing online privacy and exploitation issues in Egypt and the MENA region.

Our Helpdesk team can offer support in the following cases:

  1. Victims of online blackmail.
  2. Individuals facing harassment or threats on social media platforms.
  3. Cases of private images or videos shared without consent.
  4. People experiencing any form of digital violence.
  5. Issues related to the removal of SRHR (Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights) content.
  6. Issues related to disabled accounts due to Palestine-related content.

How We Respond to the Cases

When a case is reported to our helpline, our team carefully reviews and assesses the escalation. We then work to escalate the issue to the relevant social media platforms, providing all necessary details to ensure swift action. Our goal is to have the harmful content removed as quickly as possible, and we monitor the situation closely, following up with the platforms until the content is successfully taken down.
